The Woman In The Mirror

The petite lady in the tight black mid-thigh dress… All I could notice from the street across from mine.
She walked in a light and vibe of her own, swaying her hips with every step she took. She looked like she owned it all. Walking past a shop selling full-sized mirrors, she retraced her step to one facing her.
I could see her face somewhat clearly. Her brown fro, soft brown eyes, and small nose with red lips looked soft and mesmerizing — rocking the hell out of the color. She shyly posed to get good angles of herself as I watched her through the reflection. She got closer to the mirror staring at herself and spoke but was inaudible.
All I could fathom was an I love you. Was she talking to herself? I think she was…. I could read her expressions and thoughts.
Her eyes looked dim; they seemed tearful, but none could dare stream down because she had done her makeup — a soft minimal look that accentuated her features.
She parted her lips again but was still inaudible trying to say the same words. She didn’t and couldn’t believe those words. Her pretty eyes which shone as they looked at her face dimed disappointingly as they dropped to her body.
’My waist is too big in this dress’
’I should’ve worn my jeans instead’
’My legs don’t look straight in this dress’
’I look so skinny in this dress though’
’I wish I had more ass in this dress
’If only…’ was running through her mind. Quite unsatisfying to me aware of her thoughts. I looked around me, and everyone’s attention was pointed in her direction.
Could they read her as I could? I mean if they could, would their eyes still be on her?
All I could see in the mirror was a pretty petite woman who looked stunning while all she could see was a person who didn’t believe she was deserving of her love and wanted to fix everything.
A pity she couldn’t read my mind or see herself through my eyes….
She opened her bag to bring out her powder and brush to apply to her face. She patted a few times in her eye area to remove any tear that had dared to reveal itself.
She was leaving… maybe I could say something to her. Maybe if I paid a compliment, she’ll feel better inside.
I turned around and made my way to the street she was on. ‘What if she thinks I’m a weirdo or a creep? Shit!!! But I guess it’s worth something since I’m already here’ I thought to myself.
’You look amazing’, I shouted impulsively in her direction. ‘I saw you from the opposite street and I just wanted to let you know you look… stunning’. Her eyes turned in my direction, showing confusion, anxiety, and then contentment. She made her way past me not saying a word.
I guess I expected an audible thankyou…. but as her voice popped back into my head ‘Such a lovely stranger. Thanks’ I felt better about it all.

I see writing as a way to the inner mind. I do mostly poems, short stories and a little bit of lifestyle stories here and there too.
